The Runners Club started as a group of running enthusiasts on 5th February 2016 and through social media (WhatsApp) grew from 6 members to 1,000+ members. The Club is incorporated under The Trustees Incorporation Act (Cap 318 R. E. 2002) as a Trust and registered under the National Sports Council of Tanzania Act, 1967 as a sports club with registration number NSC 12396 dated 31st July 2019.
The Club is an organizer, race manager, advisor, supporter and a major participant of running events in Tanzania. The Club is the owner and organizer of the Absa Dar City Marathon, Dar Night Run and Bagamoyo Heritage Run, which are annual events. The Club also organizes once-off events, particularly trail runs and hikes in several natural forests and scenic landscapes that Tanzania is richly endowed with.
The Club leverages its expertise and large membership base to provide race management services to other races through partnerships and/or agency services including Kilimanjaro International Marathon, DAMDAM Marathon, CRDB Bank Marathon, NBC Dodoma Marathon and UDSM Marathon. The Club is the exclusive provider of fruits at the famous Kilimanjaro International Marathon every year.
