Five reasons why women should run
A note from Janeth Kimambo — "JK", Fitness Coach & Club Member
Running is a highly affordable sport. You don't need an expensive gym membership or complex equipment — a pair of women-specific running shoes and a safe outdoor route is really all it takes. But beyond the simplicity, running gives women something few other habits can: incredible, whole-body health benefits that carry us through every season of life.
Here are the five reasons I keep coming back to — and why I encourage every woman I coach to start.
1. Pregnancy and aging support
As women move beyond 40 and step into menopause, running continues to support joint health, help manage weight, and reduce common complaints like nausea, insomnia and leg cramps. It's a gentle, steady way to stay strong in a body that is changing.
2. Mental well-being and stress relief
Running reduces anxiety and gives you valuable "me time" to clear your mind. Women carry so much — work, family, everyone else's needs. Those quiet kilometres are yours. Trust me, we need that.

3. Hormone regulation
Regular, moderate running helps regulate estrogen levels, which supports bone health, improves the menstrual cycle and eases symptoms of menopause. Your hormones respond beautifully when you move with intention.
4. Heart and metabolic health
Women's hearts adapt rapidly to aerobic exercise. Consistent running lowers the risk of heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure — three of the biggest threats to women's long-term health.
5. Weight management

Running is one of the most efficient ways to burn calories, manage weight and tone the legs and core. Combine it with proper nutrition and rest, and the results speak for themselves.
So whether you're starting from your first slow kilometre or you're already chasing race medals, know this: running is for you. It always was.
See you on the road.
